Athenea del Castillo Beivide, born on October 24, 2000, is a talented Spanish football player. She is known as Athenea and plays as a forward for Real Madrid CF in the Liga F. She also represents the Spain national team.

Athenea's Club Journey
Starting in Cantabria
Athenea began her football journey at age 11 with Reocín in Cantabria, Spain. Later, she joined Ave Fénix Racing. She played there until the 2018–19 season. During her time, she scored an impressive 37 goals in 46 games. In 2017, her team became part of Racing Santander.
Playing for Deportivo
In August 2019, Athenea joined Deportivo Abanca. This club had just been promoted to the Primera División. Her old club tried to keep her, but Deportivo offered a professional contract. In September, her transfer was officially allowed.
Athenea played her first Primera División game for Deportivo on September 8, 2019. She scored her first goal on January 19, 2020. In their first season, Deportivo was a surprise team, finishing fourth. The next year, the team struggled and was relegated to a lower league. After her contract ended, she signed with Real Madrid, a team that qualified for the Champions League.
Joining Real Madrid
Athenea joined Real Madrid on July 26, 2021. Her first game for Real Madrid was in a European competition against Manchester City. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, and Athenea was one of the best players. A few days later, she played her first league game for Real Madrid.
Even though the team had some ups and downs at first, Athenea played very well. Real Madrid fans even chose her as the best player for September. She scored her first goal for Real Madrid against Villarreal CF, helping her team win 2-0. She is known for her strong dribbling skills. In October 2022, a sports report said she was the Liga F winger with the most successful dribbles.
Athenea's International Career
Playing for Spain's Youth Teams
Athenea was part of the Spain U19 squad for the 2018 UEFA Under-19 Championship in Switzerland. Her team won the championship that year. She also played in the same competition a year later, where her team finished as runners-up.
Playing for the Senior Spain Team
Athenea made her debut for the senior Spain national team on October 23, 2020. She came on as a substitute in a game against Czechia. This made her the first player from Deportivo to play for the full national team. On September 21, 2021, she scored her first goal for Spain in a 7-0 win against Hungary. She also scored two goals in a friendly match against Morocco, helping Spain win 3-0.
In February 2022, Athenea was initially not called up for the 2022 Arnold Clark Cup. However, after a teammate got injured, Athenea was called to join the team. She played well in the tournament, even being chosen as the best player in one match. After another great performance, she was named the best player of the entire tournament.
She was chosen for the Euro 2022 squad. She played in all three group stage matches and started in one. In the quarter-final game against England, she helped set up a goal for her teammate.
Athenea played in six games and scored one goal during the qualifiers for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup. She was also part of the squad for the 2023 World Cup. During the tournament, she had a minor ankle injury but returned to play. Spain won the final against England 1-0, becoming world champions!
Athenea was called up to the Spain squad for the UEFA Women's Euro 2025. She also scored goals in the 2025 UEFA Women's Nations League and a friendly against Japan in June 2025.
