Ato Essilfi Bracato Essandoh (born July 29, 1972) is an American actor. He has been in many movies and TV shows. You might know him from the 2023 Netflix show The Diplomat.
Early Life and School
Ato Essandoh was born in Schenectady, New York, on July 29, 1972. His parents, Ebow and Monica Essandoh, are from Ghana.
He finished high school at New Rochelle High School in 1990. Later, he went to Cornell University. He earned a degree in chemical engineering, which is about how chemicals are made and used.
Ato first started acting because a girlfriend dared him to try out for a play. He then studied acting in New York City.
Acting Career
Ato Essandoh has played many different characters. In 2020, he started a podcast called Unrelated with his childhood friend, Chris Cecot. On the podcast, they talk about how their different backgrounds shaped their lives.
In the same year, he played an astronaut in the Netflix science fiction show Away. His character was an African-British-Jewish astronaut. He also had a big role in the 2023 Netflix show The Diplomat.
