What is Attica About?
This book tells the story of 12-year-old Chloe and her brothers, Jordy (also 12) and Alex (10). They are about to have an amazing adventure!
A New Family and a New Home
Chloe and Alex's father passed away when they were very young. Their mother, Dipa, later found a new partner, Ben. Ben is Jordy's father. This means the family grows to five people! Jordy is quite different from Chloe and Alex, so they are not sure what to expect.
Ben works as a paramedic, and Dipa is a doctor. This means the children are used to their parents being busy. The family moves to Winchester and rents part of a house.
The Mystery of the Attic
The house belongs to an old man named Mr. John Grantham. He shares a special story with Chloe. He tells her about a girl he loved in the 1930s and 1940s. This girl, Susan, married a much richer man. But she gave Mr. Grantham a special clock that plays the song "Frère Jacques". Now, he cannot find this clock anywhere.
Chloe offers to help him search for it. She decides to look in the house's attic with her brothers. This is where their big adventure truly begins!
Secrets of Attica
As Chloe, Jordy, and Alex explore the attic, they discover many hidden secrets. They even give the attic a special name: "Attica". Inside, they meet strange creatures called Atticans. These creatures have bumps on their heads. They believe that all humans are actually ghosts and monsters of the Attic. The children must figure out how to deal with these unusual characters and uncover the attic's mysteries.
