Auburn, Missouri facts for kids
Auburn is a small place in Lincoln County, Missouri, in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Instead, it's part of the larger county.
History
Auburn was officially planned out in 1838. This means its streets and building lots were drawn on a map. The people who first settled there named it after Auburn, New York. That's where many of them originally came from.
A post office was opened in Auburn in 1828. Back then, post offices were very important for sending and receiving letters and news. This post office served the community for many years, but it eventually closed down in 1905.
