Auguste Franziska Dick (born Kraus, 1910–1993) was a smart Austrian woman. She was a mathematician, which means she studied numbers and shapes. She also loved history, especially the history of mathematics. She was known for writing a famous book about another important mathematician, Emmy Noether.

Her Education
Auguste Dick went to the University of Vienna. In 1934, she earned a special degree called a doctorate. This degree showed she was an expert in mathematics. She also got a teaching license for math and physics. While at the University of Vienna, she worked with other students in a special class led by Hans Hahn. Another famous mathematician, Olga Taussky-Todd, was also part of this group.
Her Important Work
Auguste Dick worked as a schoolteacher for many years. After she retired, she started writing scholarly books and articles. She became very famous for her research into the history of mathematics.
The Emmy Noether Book
One of her most important books was about Emmy Noether. It was called Emmy Noether, 1882–1935. This book was first published in 1970. It was so important that it was translated into Japanese and English. The English version came out in 1981.
Helping with Erwin Schrödinger's Works
Auguste Dick also helped to prepare the writings of another very famous scientist, Erwin Schrödinger. He was a physicist known for his work in quantum mechanics.
