Augusto Guzman facts for kids
Augusto Guzmán (born in 1903, died in 1994) was an important writer and historian from Bolivia. He was also a soldier who fought in the Chaco War. This war took place between 1932 and 1935. Guzmán wrote many books, including novels and historical works.

Augusto Guzmán served as a soldier during the Chaco War. This was a big conflict between Bolivia and Paraguay. After the war, he wrote a novel called Prisionero de Guerra (1937). This book shared his experiences as a soldier.
His Famous Novels
Guzmán wrote three main novels. His first was La sima fecunda (1933). Then came Prisionero de Guerra (1937). His last novel was Bellacos y paladines (1964). The first two novels are considered some of the best books in Bolivian literature. This means they are very important and well-loved.
Stories and Films
Augusto Guzmán also wrote short stories. One of his short stories was called "La cruel Martina." A filmmaker named John Miranda later turned this story into a movie.
Teaching and Awards
Augusto Guzmán was also a teacher. He taught at universities in Cochabamba and La Paz. These are important cities in Bolivia. For all his great writing, he received the National Literature Prize of Bolivia. This is a very high honor for writers in his country. He was also chosen to be a member of two important groups: the National Academy of History and the National Academy of Letters. This shows how much people respected his knowledge and writing skills.
Augusto Guzmán passed away in 1994. He left behind a valuable collection of books and stories.
