Aurigeno is a small village located in the Vallemaggia district of Ticino, a canton in Switzerland. It used to be its own separate municipality.

Aurigeno is now part of a larger town called Maggia. This change happened in 2004. Even though it's no longer a separate municipality, it remains a charming village.
A Look Back in Time
Aurigeno has a long history. It was first written about in official records way back in 1276. Back then, its name was recorded as Urigeno.
How Many People Lived There?
The number of people living in Aurigeno has changed a lot over the years.
- In 1709, there were 398 residents.
- By 1970, the population had dropped to just 127 people.
- However, the number started to grow again.
- In 1990, there were 316 residents.
- By 2003, the population reached 384 people.
The area of the municipality was about 11.04 square kilometers.
Joining Maggia
A big change for Aurigeno happened in 2004. It joined with the nearby, larger municipality of Maggia. This means Aurigeno is now a part of Maggia.
