The Aurora Symphony Orchestra is a group of musicians who play together for fun and for their community. It's an all-volunteer orchestra, which means everyone who plays gives their time for free. The orchestra started in 1978 and is based in Aurora, Colorado.
Each year, from August to May, the Aurora Symphony Orchestra performs many public concerts. These include special shows like the Fall Masterworks Concert, Holiday Concert, Family Concert, Spring Masterworks Concert, and the Arts for a Better Tomorrow Concert. They also perform at some summer events.

Who Plays in the Orchestra?
All the musicians in the Aurora Symphony Orchestra are volunteers. They join the orchestra after an audition, which is like a tryout where they show their musical skills. Auditions happen every August and sometimes throughout the year.
Anyone who plays an orchestral instrument well can audition. The musicians range from high school students to retired adults. If you join, you commit to weekly rehearsals, dress rehearsals (final practices), and scheduled performances.
How the Orchestra Works
The Aurora Symphony Orchestra is a 501(C)3 Non-Profit Organization. This means it's a group that doesn't make money for its owners. Instead, any money it earns goes back into running the orchestra and putting on concerts. A board of directors, made up of community members and musicians, helps guide the orchestra.
Special Concerts and Events
Fun for Families: Children & Family Concert
Every year, the Aurora Symphony Orchestra puts on a special concert just for kids and their families. This concert is free to attend! It often features music from different cultures and sometimes includes stories told in both English and Spanish.
One exciting part of this concert is the "Instrument Petting Zoo." Kids can go on stage with the musicians, ask questions, and even hold some of the instruments. It's a great way for young people to experience music up close.

The Aurora Symphony Orchestra often works with other performing arts groups. They team up to create amazing shows for the community.
