Aviva Chiara Mongillo (born February 6, 1998) is a talented Canadian singer and actress. She is also known by her stage name, Carys. Aviva is famous for playing Alya Kendrick in the TV show Backstage. She also played Juniper in the sitcom Workin' Moms. Her song "Princesses Don't Cry" became very popular online. After that, she released an album called To Anyone Like Me in October 2020.

Early Life and Education
Aviva Chiara Mongillo was born on February 6, 1998. Her hometown is Markham, Ontario, Canada. Aviva comes from an Italian family. She has shared that her family always supported her dreams. When she was seven, she started taking acting classes. Later, she also began vocal and guitar lessons.
Aviva went to Unionville High School. She continued her studies even while working on the TV show Backstage.
Aviva's Career Journey
While still in high school, Aviva Mongillo started sharing her original songs. She posted them on a website called SoundCloud. A music producer in Toronto noticed her songs. This led to her being invited to a recording studio.
Starting with Backstage
Aviva worked with songwriters at the studio. After about a month, she learned that the music was for a new TV show. The show was called Backstage. They suggested she try out for a role on the series. Aviva got the part of Alya Kendrick. She played this character in sixty episodes.
Early Music Releases
In June 2016, Aviva released her first song, "Hype." A music video was also made for the song. On September 15, 2017, she released her first album, Songs About Boys. The TV channel that aired Backstage helped promote her album. In 2017, Aviva also appeared in a Canadian comedy movie. It was called Don't Talk to Irene.
Becoming Carys and Viral Success
In 2018, Aviva began a new role as Juniper. This was a recurring character in the TV show Workin' Moms. She also appeared in two movies in 2019. One was Long Shot, where she played a younger version of a main character. The other was Random Acts of Violence.
Later in 2019, Aviva started using the stage name Carys. Her first song as Carys was "Bad Boy," released on July 26, 2019. In August 2019, an older song of hers became a huge hit. "Princesses Don't Cry" from her Songs About Boys album went viral. It became very popular on the social media app TikTok. Over 850,000 videos used her song. Because of this, the song was re-released under her stage name, Carys.
Aviva shared that she was surprised by the song's success. She wanted Carys to be a separate character. But she was happy that her music could connect with people. The music video for "Princesses Don't Cry" came out on November 12, 2019.
New Music as Carys
In June 2020, Carys released her next song, "No More." It also had a music video. On August 28, 2020, she released the song "Crush." She also announced that her first album as Carys would be released soon. This album, To Anyone Like Me, came out on October 2, 2020. When the album was released, the song "When a Girl" was also released as a single. It had its own music video.
