Azé, Mayenne facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Azé was a small town, also known as a commune, in the northwest of France. In 1999, about 2,999 people lived there. It was located in the Pays de la Loire region, within the Mayenne department.

On January 1, 2019, Azé joined with another town to form a new, larger commune called Château-Gontier-sur-Mayenne. This means Azé is no longer a separate commune on its own, but it is now part of a bigger local area.

What is a Commune?

In France, a commune is like a local government area, similar to a town or a small district. Each commune has its own mayor and local council that manage things like schools, roads, and local services for the people living there. When communes merge, they combine their resources and administration to work together as one larger area.

Where Was Azé Located?

Azé was situated in the Mayenne department, which is part of the Pays de la Loire region. This region is known for its beautiful landscapes, including rivers and green countryside. Mayenne is in the western part of France, not too far from the Atlantic coast.
