Aziz Bouhaddouz (Arabic: عزيز بوحدوز; born 30 March 1987) is a Moroccan former professional footballer. He played as a forward, which means he was usually trying to score goals for his team. He was born in Morocco but grew up in Germany.
Early Life
Aziz Bouhaddouz was born in Berkane, Morocco, in 1987. When he was just one year old, his family moved to Dietzenbach, a town in South Hessen, Germany. This is where he spent his childhood and started his football journey.
Club Career
Aziz began playing football at a young age with FC Dietzenbach. After playing for SpVgg Neu-Isenburg, he joined FSV Frankfurt in 2006. This was his first big step into professional football. In 2009, he went on loan to Erzgebirge Aue for a year and a half.
In 2011, Bouhaddouz joined SV Wehen Wiesbaden. He scored his first goal for them in a match against VfL Osnabrück. He then moved to Viktoria Köln in 2012.
In September 2013, Aziz joined the reserve team of Bayer 04 Leverkusen. He had a fantastic season there, scoring 24 goals in just 27 matches. This showed everyone how good he was at scoring.
On 5 May 2014, he signed a two-year contract with SV Sandhausen. He continued to be a strong forward for them.
In April 2016, Bouhaddouz moved to FC St. Pauli. In his first season (2016–17), he scored 15 goals and helped set up 6 others in the league. Over two seasons with the club, he scored 19 goals in 54 league games.
In August 2018, he moved to Al-Batin, a team in Saudi Arabia. After a year, he returned to SV Sandhausen in Germany.
On 1 February 2021, Aziz joined MSV Duisburg. He played for them until May 2023.
Bouhaddouz returned to FSV Frankfurt in July 2023, the club where he started his professional career. In December of that year, he announced that he would retire from playing football at the end of 2023.
International Career
Aziz Bouhaddouz was born in Morocco but grew up in Germany. This meant he could choose to play for either the Moroccan or German national team. He chose to play for Morocco.
He made his first appearance for the Moroccan national team in a friendly match against Albania in August 2016. A month later, he scored his first goal for his country. This was during a qualification match for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations against São Tomé and Príncipe.
In May 2018, he was chosen to be part of Morocco's team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. In their first match against Iran, he unfortunately scored an own goal, which meant Morocco lost the game.
