Aztek is the name of a cool superhero in the DC Universe. There have been two main characters who have used this name. Both of them live in a made-up place called Vanity City. Aztek is like a special champion for the ancient Aztec god Quetzalcoatl.
The first Aztek appeared in a comic book called Aztek, The Ultimate Man #1 in August 1996. He was created by Grant Morrison, Mark Millar, and N. Steven Harris. After his own comic series, Aztek also showed up in many issues of JLA. The second Aztek appeared later in Justice League of America vol. 5 #20 in December 2017. This version was created by Steve Orlando and Ivan Reis. She first met another hero called the Ray as a rival, but they later became partners.

Who is Aztek?
Uno's Story
The first Aztek was named Uno. He was trained from a young age by a secret group called the Q Society. They prepared him to be the champion of the Aztec god Quetzalcoatl. His mission was to fight against their enemy, another Aztec god named Tezcatlipoca.
Uno was given a magical suit of armor. This armor gave him many special abilities. It also made his already strong body and mind even more powerful. After his training, he came to the United States. He pretended to be a doctor named Curt Falconer, who had recently passed away.
Aztek later joined the Justice League, a famous team of superheroes. But he left the team when he found out that one of the secret helpers of the Q Society was the supervillain Lex Luthor. Later, Aztek helped the Justice League save Earth from a giant machine called Mageddon. This machine was actually the Tezcatlipoca that the Q Society had warned him about. Aztek lost his eyesight while fighting Mageddon. He bravely sacrificed himself to give Superman a chance to destroy Mageddon/Tezcatlipoca. This happened during a big comic book event called "World War III."
Nayeli Constant's Story
A new version of Aztek appeared in Justice League of America vol. 5 #20. This hero was a woman named Nayeli Constant. She was a software engineer living in Austin, Texas. One day, the Aztek helmet burst into her window. It told her about the very old war against the dark god Tezcatlipoca.
Nayeli decided to become the new Aztek. She changed the armor to fit her needs. She eventually went to Vanity City after The Ray, another hero, left the city to join the Justice League of America. When The Ray came back, he and Nayeli met. They briefly argued about who should protect Vanity City. But they soon teamed up to stop a criminal. After that, they decided that the city needed both of them as heroes.
Aztek's Amazing Powers
Aztek is very strong and smart, even without his suit. He wears an ancient helmet and armor. This armor gets its power from something called a "four-dimensional mirror."
With this armor, Aztek can:
- Fly through the air.
- See things using infrared and X-ray vision.
- Turn invisible.
- Walk through solid objects (intangibility).
- Hide his body heat from detection.
- Shoot plasma beams.
- Create nets to trap enemies.
- Change how dense he is, making him lighter or heavier.
- His physical strength and speed become much greater.
Even after Uno was blinded, the helmet could send information directly into his brain. The "four-dimensional mirror" power source could also explode in a very powerful way if needed.
Other Aztek Versions
Azteka in "The Rock of Ages"
Another version of Aztek, called Azteka, was seen in a comic story called "The Rock of Ages." This story was part of Grant Morrison's run on JLA. In this story, the Justice League traveled to a different future. This future was taken over by the supervillain Darkseid. Azteka had the same powers as the other Aztek heroes. She gave her life to destroy Darkseid's secret bases on the Moon.
Aztek in Other Media

Television Shows
- Aztek appeared in the cartoon series Justice League Unlimited. He mostly showed up in short appearances throughout the show. He had a very brief moment in the episode "Question Authority." Later, he had a bigger role in "I Am Legion," where he helped Superman and Shayera Hol look for Lex Luthor after he escaped from prison. Superman asked Aztek to scan the area to find clues, but Aztek couldn't find anything. Then, King Faraday met Aztek for the first time.
Video Games
- Aztek also appeared in the video game Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure. In the game, players could also get his Battlesuit, which was a costume that gave them Aztek's powers.
