Brigham Morris Young (born January 18, 1854 – died February 20, 1931) was an important person in the early history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He helped start a youth program that is still active today. He was also known for his unique stage performances.

Early Life and Family

Brigham Morris Young was born in Salt Lake City, Utah Territory. His father was Brigham Young, a well-known leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His mother was Margaret Pierce.

Serving Missions

In 1875, when he was 21, Morris Young served a mission for his church. A mission is when someone volunteers to teach others about their beliefs. He traveled to the Hawaiian Islands for this service.

After he returned, his father asked him to help create a new organization. This group was called the Young Men's Mutual Improvement Association (YMMIA). It was designed to help young men learn and grow. This group later became the Young Men program of the church. He worked with Junius F. Wells and Milton H. Hardy to start it.

In 1883, Morris Young went on another mission to the Hawaiian Islands. While there, he married Armeda Snow. She was the daughter of Lorenzo Snow, who would later become a president of the church. Their son, Lorenzo Snow Young, grew up to be a famous architect in Utah.

Madam Pattirini

After returning from his second mission in 1885, Morris Young began a surprising new career. He started performing on stage as a singer. His stage name was Madam Pattirini.

He performed in many places across north and central Utah. He was very good at singing in a high, clear voice, called a falsetto. Many people in the audience were amazed by his talent. They often did not realize that "Madam Pattirini" was actually Brigham Morris Young. He continued these performances into the early 1900s.
