What Are the Different Kinds of Luggage?
There are many different types of luggage, each designed for different needs and trips.
Valise: For Short Trips
A valise is a small bag. It is usually used for carrying clothes or accessories for a short trip, like an overnight stay. You might also hear it called an overnight bag, overnight case, or overnighter.
Suitcase: For Longer Journeys
A suitcase is a larger bag, usually shaped like a rectangle. It is most often used for carrying clothes and other items when you are going on a longer trip, like a vacation for several days or weeks. Many modern suitcases have wheels and handles to make them easier to pull.
Trunk: A Blast from the Past
A trunk is a very large, strong box or chest. In the past, especially in the 1800s and early 1900s, trunks were very popular for long journeys, especially when people traveled across the ocean on a ship. They were often called travelling chests or steamer trunks. Today, trunks are much less common for travel, but some people still use them for storage or as decorative furniture.
