The Story of Bailey
Bailey has had a few different names throughout its history. It was once called "Bailey Station" and also "Hanover". A post office was first opened there in 1861, and it was named Bailey's Station. A few years later, in 1864, the name of the post office was changed to Hanover. However, this post office eventually closed its doors in 1885. The name "Bailey" that we use today honors an early settler in the area, a man named John Martin Bailey.
