The Baker Hotel was once a special building in Baker, Montana. It was located right in the heart of town, at the corner of Main Street and Railroad Avenue. This historic site was so important that it was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 5, 2005.

What Was the Baker Hotel?

The Baker Hotel was a large, two-story building made of brick. It was built in 1916 and first opened its doors in 1917. For many years, it was an important part of the Baker community. In 2004, it was even the second oldest brick building in the entire town!

A Look Back in Time

When the hotel was listed as a historic place in 2004, it was owned by the City of Baker. At that time, the building had been empty for about 15 years. Even though it was vacant, its history and unique design made it special.

What Happened to the Hotel?

Sadly, the Baker Hotel no longer stands today. The building was later taken down. A new building has since been built in its place. Even though the original hotel is gone, its history is still remembered because it was once a part of the National Register of Historic Places.
