Balboa is a town and a municipality in the Risaralda Department of Colombia. It is about 53 kilometers (around 33 miles) away from Pereira, which is the capital city of Risaralda. In 2023, about 6,510 people lived in Balboa.

How Balboa Was Founded
Balboa was started in 1907 by a group of settlers from the Antioquia Department. These early settlers helped build the town. Some of the important people who founded Balboa include Juan Bautista, José Miguel Ceballos, Julián and Pedro Benjumea, and many others. They worked together to create this new community.
