A ballet shoe is a special lightweight shoe made for ballet dancing. It's also called a ballet slipper. These shoes are super flexible and have thin soles. They help dancers move their feet freely and safely.

How Ballet Shoes Are Made

History of Ballet Shoes
Ballet dancing began a long time ago. Women started dancing ballet in 1682. This was about 20 years after King Louis XIV of France started the Royal Academy of Dance in Paris.
Back then, women's ballet shoes had heels! But in the mid-1700s, a famous dancer named Marie Camargo changed things. She was the first to wear ballet shoes without heels. After the French Revolution, heels were completely removed from standard ballet shoes. Modern ballet shoes still don't have heels today.
