Banawurun is a cool band from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. They started making music in 2004. Their sound is often called "outback Motown." This means their music mixes traditional Australian sounds with a soulful, energetic style.
The band began with two talented musicians, Troy Brady and Trevelyn Brady. They first performed as a duo. Later, they grew into a bigger group called Troy n Trevelyn & The Tribe. In 2007, they changed their name to Banawurun. This special name means "running water."
Journey to Success
Before Banawurun, Troy and Trevelyn played together in another band called Velocity. Their experience helped them create their unique sound.
Banawurun quickly gained attention. In 2006, they traveled to the United States. They performed in Los Angeles at a famous venue called the Viper Room. This was a big step for the band.
In 2007, Banawurun achieved a major award. They won "Band of the Year" at the Deadly Awards. The Deadly Awards celebrated the best in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music, art, and sport.
