The Bank of America Building is a very tall building in downtown Oakland, California. It's also known as the Oakland Bank Building or Oakland Bank of Savings. This building stands about 69 meters (226 feet) high. It was first built in 1907.

A Tall Building in Oakland

When it was first finished, the Bank of America Building had nine floors. Later, more floors were added to make it an 18-story tower. This made it one of the taller buildings in Oakland at the time. It's located right in the heart of downtown Oakland. This area is a busy place with many other important buildings.

From Local Bank to Big Bank

The building was originally the main office for a company called the Oakland Bank. This was a local bank that served the people of Oakland. In 1929, a much larger company, Bank of America, bought the Oakland Bank. After this, the building became known as the Bank of America Building. Today, it still serves as a place for commercial offices. It's a historic landmark in the city of Oakland.
