The Massey Felton Lumber Company Sawmill
At the same time the hotel was built, a company called Massey Felton Lumber Company had a sawmill nearby. This sawmill was located about 1 kilometer (or 1 mile) east of Bannockburn, on the west side of the Alapaha River. Sawmills are places where logs are cut into lumber, which is used for building. The sawmill in Bannockburn stopped operating around 1910.
