Ruairí Lynch (born October 5, 1983), known as Bantum, is an Irish musician. He plays many instruments, creates music, and is also a DJ. He is known for his electronic and dance music.
Growing Up
Ruairí Lynch grew up in Cork, a city in Ireland. He did not have formal music lessons. Instead, he studied business and computer systems at University College Cork. A music group called The Chemical Brothers was a big inspiration for him early on.
Bantum's Music Journey
Lynch started making music in Dublin in 2010. He chose the name "Bantum" because someone misheard the wrestling term "bantamweight."
In 2015, he composed music for a short film called Little Bear. Bantum released his album Move in 2016. This album was nominated for the important Choice Music Prize. In the same year, a newspaper called The Irish Times also named him one of Ireland's top artists.
