Barclay is a famous French music company, also known as a record label. It was started by Eddie Barclay in 1953. Before that, he had another company called Riviera-LM Records, which he began in 1951.
Who Started Barclay?
Eddie Barclay was a very talented musician. He played the piano, led music bands, and even owned a nightclub! He and his wife, Nicole, who was a singer, decided to create their own music company. They helped share the music of many artists. Some early musicians they worked with include Stéphane Grappelli, Lionel Hampton, and Rhoda Scott. In 1978, Eddie Barclay sold part of his company to another big music group called PolyGram Records.

Barclay has released music from many well-known artists over the years. Their music collection includes songs by Hugues Aufray, Charles Aznavour, Alain Bashung, and Jacques Brel. They also worked with Dalida, Jean Ferrat, and Léo Ferré.
