Barnsley, Kentucky facts for kids
Barnsley is a small community located in Hopkins County, in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It is not a big city but a quiet place where people live.
Barnsley's Past
Barnsley began as a mining town in 1886. This means many people worked in coal mines nearby. A post office opened here in 1888. It helped people send and receive mail until 1928.
Strong Storms
Barnsley has faced some tough weather. On December 10, 2021, a very strong tornado passed through the community. This storm sadly damaged or destroyed about 25 to 30 homes.
Less than three years later, another powerful tornado hit Barnsley. This second tornado was also very strong. It caused more damage to the area.
