History of Barrs Mills
The community of Barrs Mills got its start because of a special building called a mill. A mill is a place where grain, like wheat or corn, is ground into flour. This particular mill was run by a person named David Barr. His mill was located on Sugar Creek, a local waterway.
A post office was opened in Barrs Mills in 1873. This was an important service for the people living there, allowing them to send and receive mail. The post office served the community for many years, finally closing its doors in 1956.
