Bas-Uele is one of the 26 provinces in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Its name means "Lower Uele" in French. The capital city of Bas-Uele is Buta. The province is named after the Uele River, which flows through this region.
History of Bas-Uele Province
Before 2015, Bas-Uele was not a separate province. It was part of a much larger area called Orientale Province. In 2015, the Democratic Republic of the Congo changed its administrative divisions. This change created 26 new provinces, and Bas-Uele became its own province.
Geography and Territories
Bas-Uele is located in the northern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It covers a large area of about 148,331 square kilometers. This is roughly the size of a small country. The province is known for its natural landscapes, including the Uele River.
The province is divided into several smaller areas called territories. These territories help manage the different parts of Bas-Uele. Each territory has its own local administration.

Population and Language
