The 2014 festival was a big success! It was held at the University of Bath on Saturday, September 27th. Lots of people came, even the Mayor of Bath. The Mayor helped give out prizes at the awards ceremony.

The festival had awesome music from bands like Laz’s Blues Band and The Counterpart. Jon Chouler and Amit Nathubhai also performed. The Cadbury Sisters, a popular group, returned to play again.

Curry Competition

Local restaurants and businesses competed in the 'Great Bath Curry Competition'. People tasted different curries and voted for their favorites. The GPT Smokehouse won in both the hot and mild curry groups!

Dr. Amit Nathubhai gave talks about 'Chilli Science'. He explained how scientists first made capsaicin, the chemical that makes chillies hot. He also talked about Wilbur Scoville, who created a way to measure how hot chillies are. Joy Michaud shared interesting 'Chilli Factoids'. Matt Simpson also taught people about the history of chillies.

Chilli Eating Contests

Two exciting chilli eating competitions took place! One was hosted by Darth Naga, and the other by The Clifton Chilli Club. Brave people ate super hot chillies to see who could handle the heat the best!
