The Battle of Waterloo reenactment is a special event held every year. It's a modern way to bring the famous 19th-century Battle of Waterloo back to life. This exciting show takes place right on the original battlefield in Waterloo, Belgium.

Each June, around the historic date of the battle (June 18, 1815), hundreds of people dress up in old uniforms. They act out parts of the battle. Usually, about 600 to 800 reenactors join in. But for big anniversaries, like every five years, it's a much larger event! Then, 1,500 to 2,000 reenactors come from all over the world. They travel from countries like France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Great Britain, the USA, Germany, and many more.

The Big 2015 Event

A huge reenactment happened in 2015 to celebrate 200 years since the original battle. It was one of the biggest reenactments ever! More than 6,200 reenactors took part. They had 330 horses and 120 cannons. The action happened near a place called La Haye Sainte on the battlefield.

During this special event, the Allied Army reenactors set up camp at Hougoumont. The French reenactors camped about a mile away from La Caillou. The event started with a creative show about the battle. It was put together by Luc Petit. This show used a very long stage, giant screens, fireworks, dancers, and musicians. Even local choirs joined in!
