The bay antpitta is a small to medium-sized bird. It gets its name from the "bay" color, which is a reddish-brown shade. Where Does the Bay Antpitta Live?
This bird lives in the montane forests of Peru. "Montane" means these forests are found on the sides of mountains. The bay antpitta prefers places where the forest is moist and tropical. This means it's warm and gets a lot of rain. Sadly, some of its home is becoming "degraded," which means the forest is being damaged or cut down. This makes it harder for the bay antpitta to find safe places to live and food to eat.
