The Beals and Torrey Shoe Co. Building is a historic building located in Watertown, Wisconsin. It was built over a hundred years ago and has served different purposes throughout its history. Today, this interesting building has been turned into apartments where people live.
A Look at the Building's Past
The Beals and Torrey Shoe Company built this large building in 1904. They used it as a factory to make shoes. Imagine all the shoes that were made there!
By 1918, the shoe company had grown very big. They needed more space than this building could offer. So, they moved their factory to a different place.
After the shoe company left, the building found a new use. For several years, it became a factory for making dairy equipment. This means it helped produce machines used for milk and cheese products.
Later on, the building was changed again. It was renovated and turned into apartments. This means people now live in what used to be a busy factory!
