About Beatriz Gutiérrez Müller
Her Early Life and School
Beatriz Gutiérrez Müller was born in Mexico City. Her father was Juan Gutiérrez Canet, and her mother was Nora Beatriz Müller Bentjerodt, who had German and Chilean roots.
She went to the Universidad Iberoamericana Puebla and earned a bachelor's degree in communications in 1998. She wrote a paper about how media is used in election laws. Later, in 2002, she earned a master's degree from the same university. Her master's paper was about the art of memory in a famous historical book. She also continued her studies and earned a doctorate degree in literary theory from another university.
Her Work and Career
After finishing school, Beatriz worked as a reporter for a newspaper called El Universal in the city of Puebla.
She later joined the government of Mexico City when Andrés Manuel López Obrador was in charge. This is how they met each other.
Today, Beatriz Gutiérrez Müller is a professor and researcher at a special institute at the Meritorious Autonomous University of Puebla. She has written several academic books about literature. She is also a singer!
Her Family Life
On October 16, 2006, Beatriz married Andrés Manuel López Obrador. In April 2007, their son, Jesús Ernesto López Gutiérrez, was born. He is her first child and López Obrador's fourth.
Even though her husband was the President of Mexico, Beatriz Gutiérrez Müller chose not to use the title of First Lady of Mexico. She felt that this role did not have clear duties or responsibilities.
