History of Beech

Beech was started in 1911. It began as a "railroad town," which means it grew up around a train line or station.

The community was first called New Sandyville. However, people living in the nearby town of Sandyville didn't like this name. So, the community was renamed Beech. This new name honored someone who worked for the railroad.

In 1940, about 133 people lived in Beech.
