Plot Summary: Fun Adventures in the Castle
Belle's Magical World tells four different stories. They all teach important lessons about friendship, forgiveness, and understanding.
The Perfect Word: Learning to Forgive
Beast and Belle plan to have lunch together. Beast asks Lumiere for advice on how to act. Cogsworth takes Belle to the dining room. On the way, they meet Webster, a dictionary who used to be a scribe. Belle invites Webster to join them, which makes Cogsworth unhappy.
During lunch, Belle tells Beast about a book she is reading. Beast gets hot and demands the windows be opened. This causes an argument between them. Beast gets angry and knocks Webster off the table. Webster was giving unwanted synonyms for Belle's words. After this, Belle and Beast stop talking to each other. Lumiere and Cogsworth try to help them make up.
Webster feels bad about what happened. He and his friends, Crane (a pile of papers) and LePlume (a quill), write a fake apology letter from Beast to Belle. Belle sees the letter and makes up with Beast. Later that night, the truth comes out. Beast is very angry and banishes Webster, Crane, and LePlume to the forest. Belle goes out and brings them back. Beast sees Belle's kindness and forgives the three. He realizes they meant well. The lesson here is that it is easy to forgive others.
Fifi's Folly: Don't Jump to Conclusions
It is the anniversary of Lumiere and Fifi's first date. Lumiere is very nervous. He cleans himself a lot and asks Belle for advice. He walks with Belle in the garden and practices what he will say to Fifi. Fifi overhears them and thinks Lumiere and Belle are dating.
Lumiere was actually planning a surprise snow ride for Fifi. To get back at Lumiere, Fifi tries to make Cogsworth like her. Cogsworth is not interested. In the end, everything is cleared up. Lumiere and Fifi go for their ride. But the pot they are sitting in slides off the balcony. They hang over the moat, which is a deep ditch. Lumiere holds onto Fifi and tells her he loves her. Belle, Cogsworth, and other servants arrive just in time. They pull Lumiere and Fifi to safety. Everyone learns not to jump to conclusions. They also learn that things are not always as they seem.
Mrs. Potts' Party: Working Together
Mrs. Potts feels sad because of the bad weather. Belle decides to cheer her up with a surprise party. Belle sees Mrs. Potts like a mother figure. While getting ready for the party, Belle and her friends must be quiet. Beast is sleeping because he spent all night fixing a roof leak.
Lumiere and Cogsworth's rivalry causes problems. They argue about who should choose the music, Mrs. Potts' favorite flowers, and the cake flavors. Two oven mitts, Chaud and Tres, also join the argument. Each mitt sides with one of the rivals. Lumiere and Cogsworth try to mess up each other's choices. This causes the cake to explode and make a huge mess in the kitchen.
Belle scolds Lumiere and Cogsworth. They decide to stop their rivalry and work together. They make a small surprise for Mrs. Potts. The plan works, and Mrs. Potts feels happy again. The sun even starts to shine. Everyone learns how important cooperation and compromise are.
The Broken Wing: Respect and Compassion
Belle and Beast plan to have lunch again. But an injured bird flies into Belle's room. Belle forgets about lunch and helps the bird instead. Beast finds out and gets very angry. He dislikes birds and tries to catch it. He trips over Cogsworth and hits his head. This makes him stop hating birds, but he is still selfish. He locks the bird in a cage and demands it sing for him. The bird is sad and scared, so it refuses.
Meanwhile, Cogsworth feels he is losing control of the castle staff. He tries to demand their respect by being harsh. Belle convinces Beast to let the bird go once its wing is better. The bird is still weak and starts to fall. Beast rushes to save it. While this happens, Cogsworth falls from the West Wing balcony into the garden. He is not hurt. He learns that you cannot demand respect; you must earn it by giving it. Belle and Beast make up. Beast learns to treat people and animals with respect and kindness.
