How Belleville Started

The story of Belleville began in 1903. A man named William Henry Plummer bought 40 acres of land. He bought it for his church, the Church of God and Saints of Christ. The church had a dream to build a town on this land for its members.

However, Plummer faced money problems. He lost the land in 1909. Later, in 1917, a man named John Eberwine bought the land at an auction. When Eberwine learned about the church's original plan, he decided to continue the project. He helped make the dream of a community in Belleville come true.
