Benjamin William Bova (born November 8, 1932, died November 29, 2020) was an American writer and editor. He spent 60 years writing many books and stories, mostly science fiction. He wrote over 120 works. Ben Bova was also the editor of Analog Science Fiction and Fact magazine, where he won six Hugo Awards. He also worked as an editorial director for Omni magazine. Besides writing and editing, he was the president of both the National Space Society and the Science Fiction Writers of America.

Ben Bova was born in Philadelphia on November 8, 1932. He finished high school in 1949. In 1953, he married Rosa Cucinotta. They had a son and a daughter. Later, he married Barbara Berson Rose. Barbara passed away in 2009. Ben Bova dedicated one of his books, Power Play, to her. In 2013, he married Rashida Loya.

He went back to school in the 1980s. He earned a Master of Arts degree in communications in 1987. He also received a Doctor of Education degree in 1996. Ben Bova passed away on November 29, 2020, at the age of 88.

Bova's novella The Towers of Titan was the cover story in the January 1962 issue of Amazing Stories.

Ben Bova started his career as a technical writer in the 1950s. He worked on important projects like Project Vanguard, which was about launching satellites.

In 1972, Ben Bova became the editor of Analog Science Fact & Fiction magazine. He took over after the previous editor, John W. Campbell, passed away. While working at Analog, Bova won six Hugo Awards for being the Best Professional Editor. This award is a big honor in the science fiction world.

He also worked as a science advisor for a TV show called The Starlost in 1973. After leaving Analog in 1978, Bova became the editor of Omni magazine. He worked there from 1978 to 1982.

Ben Bova was also very involved in space and science fiction groups. He was the President Emeritus of the National Space Society. He also served as the President of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA).

In 2000, he was the special Author Guest of Honor at a big science fiction event called the 58th World Science Fiction Convention. Later, in 2007, movie studios hired him as a consultant. He helped them imagine what the future might look like for films like Repo Men and Altered Carbon. In 2008, he received the Robert A. Heinlein Award for his contributions to science fiction.
