Discovering Ben Cameron's Cricket Journey
Ben Cameron had an interesting career in the world of cricket. He started as a player and later became a coach, sharing his knowledge with others.
Playing Days: Representing South Australia
Cameron played for the South Australia team from 2004 to 2007. During this time, he participated in ten first-class games and nine List A games. These are different types of professional cricket matches.
As a right-handed opening batsman, Ben was often the first player to bat for his team. He showed his talent early on, scoring two half-centuries (meaning he scored 50 runs or more twice) in his very first Sheffield Shield match against the Victoria team.
Transitioning from Player to Coach
Ben Cameron stopped playing professional cricket in 2007. He had a long-term knee problem that made it difficult to continue. However, his love for the game didn't end there!
He decided to become a coach instead. He worked with teams in South Australian Premier Cricket, helping younger players develop their skills.
Coaching the Vanuatu National Team
In March 2022, Ben took on an exciting new role. He became the high performance manager and head coach for Vanuatu Cricket. This meant he was in charge of helping the Vanuatu national cricket team become even better.
He worked with the team for almost a year, but then resigned in January 2023. He left for personal reasons.
Ben Cameron passed away in October 2025.
