Benbow, Missouri facts for kids
Benbow is a small place in Marion County, Missouri, in the United States. It's called an unincorporated community because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of the larger county.
The Story of Benbow
Benbow wasn't always called Benbow! Its first name was Midway. This small settlement was officially started, or laid out, in the year 1862.
A few years later, in 1865, a post office opened there. It was named Benbow. This post office helped people send and receive letters and packages. It stayed open for many years, until 1906. It's a bit of a mystery who Benbow was. The person the post office was named after is no longer known.
