King James's "Well Dined"
One story goes back to 1229. After a big battle to take over Majorca, King James of Aragon was super hungry. He found a tent where a meal was being made. After eating, the king said Ben dinat. This means "well dined" in the Catalan language. People say that's how the village got its name!
An Old Farmhouse Name
The other idea is simpler. In the 13th century, there was an old farm in the area. It was called Bendinex. Some people think the village's name came from this old farmhouse.
A Glimpse into Bendinat's Past
Bendinat has an interesting history. It's known as the place where King James camped in 1229. This was after a tough battle against the Moors.
From Farmland to Homes
For a long time, Bendinat was mostly farmland. In the 1500s, a man named Francesc Burgués owned a big farm here. This farm is now the residential area of Bendinat. Over the years, the land changed hands many times. It was important for growing crops. But it only had simple farmhouses and buildings.
Modern Bendinat's Creator
Later, in the 20th century, a famous architect named François Spoerry helped develop Bendinat. He designed many of the homes and areas you see today.

So, you can't go inside for tours.
Royal Bendinat Golf Club
If you like golf, Bendinat has a fancy golf club. It's called "Real Golf de Bendinat." It opened in 1986. The King of Spain, King Juan Carlos, is the honorary president of this club.
Cala Bendinat Beach
Cala Bendinat is a lovely beach. It's about 50 meters long and 20 meters wide. The beach is surrounded by beautiful pine trees. You can reach it easily from the residential area. It's a great spot to relax and enjoy the sea!
