Bengü Erden, born on April 2, 1979, is a famous Turkish singer. She first fell in love with music at the İzmir State Symphony Orchestra. In İzmir, she even played a main role in the musical "Oliver Twist." She also took singing lessons to improve her voice.
In 1998, Bengü came in second place at a big singing contest called Pop Show '98. After that, she studied music in Istanbul. She worked as a backup singer for three years for the well-known artist Kenan Doğulu. In 2007, Bengü won a TV singing competition called Bak Kim Dans Ediyor.
Her first album, Hoş Geldin, came out in July 2000. It was produced by Kenan Doğulu and Ozan Doğulu. Her second album, Bağlasan Durmam, was released in 2005. Two years later, her third album, Taktik, came out. The song "Korkma Kalbim" from this album became a huge hit. It even got a special digital award and was one of the best-selling albums that year.
In 2009, Bengü released İki Melek. This album sold 125,000 copies and earned a gold award. Its songs were number one on the Türkçe Top 20 charts for seven weeks. This made her one of the top Turkish artists that year. In 2011, her album Dört Dörtlük was released. The main song, "Aşkım", was very popular. It was even the most searched song on Google in Turkey in 2011. Bengü also became the "most followed artist" in Turkey that same year.
In 2012, she released a mini-album called "Anlatacaklarım Var". The song "Yaralı" from this album was number one on Turkey's music charts for seven weeks. Her 2013 song "Saygımdan" also topped the charts for five weeks in 2014. "Yaralı" later won the "Most Played Song" award at the Turkey Music Awards.
Bengü's seventh album, İkinci Hal, came out in October 2014. Its first song, "Sahici", quickly became number one for five weeks. She was the second artist in 2014 to have the most number-one songs. Many of her songs have become hits, like "Korkma Kalbim", "İki Melek", "Aşkım", and "Yaralı". She has released eight studio albums and six singles. Bengü has also won many awards for her music.

Bengü's Music Journey
Early Years and First Album (2000-2008)
Bengü's first album, Hoş Geldin, was released in July 2000. It took about three and a half years to prepare. Famous musicians like Kenan Doğulu and Yıldız Tilbe helped with the album. It had nine songs and one remix. Bengü performed in almost 300 concerts with this album, both in Turkey and other countries.
Her big break came in 2005 with her second album, Bağlasan Durmam. She worked with popular artists like Serdar Ortaç on this album. Bengü wrote and composed some of the songs herself, like "Korkumdan Ağladım" and "Gel Gel". Music videos were made for five songs from this album. Bağlasan Durmam sold 52,000 copies and was one of the best-selling albums that year. It was even chosen as one of the best Turkish albums of the 2000s by NTV.
In 2007, the album Taktik helped Bengü's career grow even more. She wrote and composed the song "Yolcu" for this album. The first music video was for "Korkma Kalbim", which became a huge hit in Turkey. This song was downloaded over 136,000 times, making it one of the most downloaded songs of 2007. Another song, "Unut Beni", also became very successful. The album Taktik sold 100,000 copies and was one of the top-selling albums of the year.
In 2008, Bengü released her fourth album, Gezegen. Fans and critics liked it a lot. The first music video for this album was for the song "Gezegen". It was chosen as one of the best songs of 2008 by many critics and radio shows. The album sold 35,000 copies.
Chart-Topping Success (2009-2012)
In 2009, Bengü's fifth album, İki Melek, was released. Artists like Serdar Ortaç and Sinan Akçıl worked on it. The songs "İki Melek" and "Kocaman Öpüyorum" reached number one on the music charts for seven weeks. In 2009, she won the "Best Female Pop Artists" award. Her album İki Melek was also named "Album of the Year" by many groups. It sold 125,000 copies and earned Bengü a gold award.
In the summer of 2010, she released a new mini-album called "Sırada Sen Varsın". Bengü won the "Best Single" award for this song. It sold 40,000 copies in just 25 days and was a big step forward in her career.
In 2011, Bengü released her album Dört Dörtlük. The main song, "Aşkım", was very popular and trended on Twitter in Turkey. Because of "Aşkım", Bengü became the most searched artist on Google in Turkey in 2011. The album sold 25,000 copies by the end of the year.
In late 2012, Bengü released "Anlatacaklarım Var". She started her own music company, BNG Müzik. The mini-album had two songs by Zeki Güner: "Haberin Olsun" and "Yaralı". The song "Yaralı" was number one on Turkey's music charts for seven weeks in the summer. It was also chosen as the "Best Single" and won the "Most Played Song of 2014" award.
New Singles and Albums (2013-2016)
After the success of "Yaralı", Bengü released a new song called "Saygımdan" in November 2013. Fans and critics loved it. The song was written by Zeki Güner. It reached number one on Turkey's official music charts for five weeks in early 2014.
For her album İkinci Hal, Bengü worked with many talented writers and composers. This album also included new versions of her hit songs "Yaralı" and "Saygımdan". The album was one of the top 5 best-selling albums and was chosen as the "Album of the Year" by TTNET Müzik.
"Hodri Meydan", Bengü's fifth single, was released in March 2016. The music video for the song featured actress Demet Özdemir. It was filmed in different locations and quickly became number one on many music lists.
Another single, "Sığamıyorum", was released in June 2016. The music video for this song got 5 million views in its first week. After three weeks, the song reached third place on Turkey's official music charts.
Recent Works (2017-Present)
Bengü's eighth album, Altın Çağ, was released in May 2017. Several songs from this album, including "Kuzum" and "Altın Çağ", had music videos.
Her new song, "Yazık", came out in February 2019 with a music video. Later that year, she sang a duet with Bilal Sonses called "İçimden Gelmiyor". In November 2019, Bengü released another new song called "Günaydın".
