Benham is a small place in Indiana, a state in the United States. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it does not have its own local government, like a city or town would. Benham is located in Ripley County, within Brown Township.
History of Benham
Long ago, this community had a slightly different name. It was often called Benhams Store.
The Post Office
A post office first opened in Benham in 1866. It was named Benham Store at that time. Later, in 1888, the name was made shorter to just Benham. The post office served the community for many years before it finally closed down in 1934. John Benham, Jr., was the very first person to run the post office there.
