Benjamin Zachary Bronfman, born on August 6, 1982, is an American businessman and musician. He is known for helping start Global Thermostat. This company works to remove carbon dioxide, a gas that harms our planet, directly from the air.

Bronfman's Early Life
Benjamin Bronfman was born in New York City on August 6, 1982. His mother is actress Sherry Brewer Bronfman. His father, Edgar Bronfman Jr., used to lead Warner Music Group. His family is well-known.
When his father worked for Seagram Distilleries Europe, Benjamin lived briefly in London. The family returned to New York in 1984. His father then became president of Seagram's US marketing.
Benjamin went to Collegiate High School in New York City. He graduated in 2000. Later, he studied politics and law at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts.
Working for the Environment
In 2007, Bronfman became very interested in cleaning the Earth's air. He wanted to remove carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere. He teamed up with Columbia University economist Graciela Chichilnisky. Together, they started Global Thermostat. Benjamin is a founding partner and director there.
Global Thermostat finished building its first test plant in November 2010. This plant was at The Stanford Research Institute. From 2018 to 2023, he also served on the board of Bedrocan International. This company focuses on medical supplies in Europe.
Music Career
Benjamin Bronfman loved music from a young age. In high school, he met Gunnar Olsen. They played in several bands together. In 2000, he met Jeff DaRosa at Emerson College. This led to an early version of the band The Exit.
The Exit is a popular band from New York City. They play Indie, Post-Punk, and Reggae music. The band has released two albums.
Bronfman was nominated for a Grammy Award. This was for his work on Kanye West's song "New Slaves". He also helped produce "Monster". This song was on Kanye West's Grammy-winning album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
Bronfman also started Green Owl. This is a record label that focuses on helping the environment. It claims to be the first of its kind.

Personal Life
Bronfman met British rapper M.I.A. in 2008. They had a son together on February 13, 2009. In February 2012, they announced that they had separated.
Helping Others and Activism
Benjamin Bronfman has served on the boards of several non-profit groups. These include Pioneer Works, Liberty Science Center, Americans for Safe Access, and 15 Percent Pledge.
In 2017, Bronfman took part in a charity boxing match in London. He fought Kweku Mandela. The goal was to raise money and awareness against animal poaching.
