How Bennington Got Its Name
Long ago, Bennington had a different name. It was first known as Slawson. A post office opened there in 1838 under the name Slawson. Ten years later, in 1848, the name was changed to Bennington. The post office served the community for many years. It finally closed its doors in 2009.
