The Benomi Case House is a really old and cool house in Windsor, Connecticut. It was built way back in 1834. This house is a great example of a building style called Greek Revival, especially because it's made of brick. Because of its special history and design, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

What Does the Benomi Case House Look Like?

The Benomi Case House is in a neighborhood in northwestern Windsor. You can find it on the north side of Rainbow Road. It's a big house, about 72 feet long and 27 feet wide.

House Design and Materials

The house has two and a half stories and is made of brick. It has stone details and a roof with a pointed shape called a gable. The front of the house faces east. It has five sections across and four sections deep. There are two chimneys on each side of the house.

Special Features of the House

The main front door is in the middle. It has narrow windows on the sides, called sidelights. There is also a window above the door, called a transom window. The sides of the house have triangular shapes at the top, called pediments. These pediments are made of wood. They have rectangular windows with interesting patterns in the middle. A smaller, one-story part of the house sticks out to the north. This part includes a garage. There is also an old shed from the 1800s on the property.

Who Lived in the Benomi Case House?

The house was built in 1834 by a farmer named Benomi Case. He lived there for many years.

Changing Owners Over Time

After Benomi Case's son, Otis, passed away in 1888, the house was sold. A man named Manley Snow bought it. The Snow family owned the house for almost 100 years!

Why This House is Special

The Benomi Case House is a simple but beautiful example of Greek Revival architecture. This style was popular in the United States in the early to mid-1800s. It was inspired by the ancient buildings of Greece.
