Antônio Bento dos Santos (born on December 18, 1971), often called Bentinho, is a former professional football player from Brazil. He was known for playing as a striker, which means his main job was to score goals for his team.
Bentinho's Football Journey
Bentinho played for many different football clubs during his career. He started playing professionally in 1989. He played for several teams in Brazil, including Portuguesa Desportos, São Paulo, Botafogo, and Cruzeiro.
Playing in Japan
A big part of Bentinho's career was spent playing in Japan. He first moved to Japan in 1994 to play for Verdy Kawasaki. He was a very good goal scorer there.
He also played for Kashiwa Reysol for several years. He returned to this club multiple times. Later, he joined Oita Trinita and Kawasaki Frontale. His last team in Japan was Avispa Fukuoka, where he played until 2004.
Scoring Goals
As a striker, Bentinho was excellent at scoring. During his time playing in Japan, he played in 184 league games and scored 104 goals. This shows he was a very important player for his teams. In total, across all competitions in Japan, he scored 114 goals in 201 games.
