It first started as just Berbati's. Later, when the space next door became available, the owner, Ted Papaioannou, made his restaurant bigger. He then changed its name to Berbati's Pan.

Berbati's Pan was known for being a lively spot. You could enjoy Greek food and listen to music. The bar had a jukebox where you could pick songs. There were also pool tables for games.

A Place for Fun and Music

The restaurant often had special cabaret shows. These shows sometimes featured belly dancing. The club part of Berbati's Pan had a big L-shaped dance floor. This was perfect for people who loved to dance. There were also three different bars where you could get drinks.

Many music groups played there. The band Five Fingers of Funk was special. They were the very first group to perform at the club. They were also the last group to play there on New Year's Eve before it closed.

What Happened to Berbati's Pan?

Berbati's Pan closed down in 2010. This happened shortly after the owner, Ted Papaioannou, passed away on November 8th, 2010. After it closed, the building was sold. The new owner also owned other well-known places in Portland, like Dante's and Star Theater.
