Bern Herbolsheimer (born September 2, 1948 – died January 13, 2016) was an American composer. A composer is someone who writes music. Bern Herbolsheimer created over 500 pieces of music. His works included ballets, operas, and symphonies. He was known across the United States and Europe.

Bern Herbolsheimer was a very talented composer. He wrote many different kinds of music. His music was performed in many countries. These included Germany, France, Italy, Japan, and the United States.

He wrote ballets for famous dance companies. These included the Frankfurt Ballet and the Pacific Northwest Ballet. His first opera, Aria da Capo, won a national award. An opera is a play where the words are sung to music. His second opera, Mark Me Twain, was also very popular. Critics said it had "attractive, dramatic, often eloquent music."

Bern Herbolsheimer also wrote music for orchestras. His Symphony No. 1 was played by the Florida Symphony. The Seattle Symphony also performed his orchestral music. He wrote many pieces for choirs and singers. The Seattle Weekly newspaper called him the "Best (Classical) Composer" in 2005. They said his choral music was "luminous and subtle."

His music was even featured in TV shows. His piece Gold and Silver was in the HBO series The Knick. One of his last works, The Quartet, was performed at Carnegie Hall. Carnegie Hall is a very famous concert venue in New York City.
