Bernadette Isaac-Sibille (born March 30, 1930 – died January 2, 2021) was an important French politician. She worked hard for the people of Lyon and France for many years.
Political Career
Bernadette Isaac-Sibille started her political journey in 1983. She was elected as the Mayor of the 5th area of Lyon. She worked as a city council member until 1995.
She also became a General Councillor for the Lyon-V area in 1985. This meant she helped make decisions for a specific part of the region. She was re-elected to this role two more times, in 1992 and 1998.
In 1988, Bernadette Isaac-Sibille was elected to the National Assembly. This is like being a member of parliament in France. She represented an area called Rhône's 1st constituency. She was re-elected to this important role in 1993 and again in 1997. She served in the National Assembly until 2002.
After her time in the National Assembly, she joined a special group in 2003. This group, called the Commission de surveillance et de contrôle des publications destinées à l'enfance et à l'adolescence, looked at books and media for children and teenagers. She also led an association that honored French families.
Personal Life
Bernadette Sibille was born in Lyon, France. She married Alain Isaac on January 14, 1957. They were together until her husband passed away in 2017.
They had four children. One of their children, Cyrille Isaac-Sibille, also became a politician. Bernadette Isaac-Sibille passed away on January 2, 2021, when she was 90 years old.
