Bernard Gallacher's Football Journey
Bernard was born in Johnstone, Scotland. In 1983, when he was 16, he joined the famous football club Aston Villa as a young trainee.
He worked his way up through the youth teams. In March 1985, he signed a professional contract. Bernard played his first game for Aston Villa in 1987 against Manchester United. That season, Aston Villa moved down from the top division of English football.
The very next season, Aston Villa worked hard to get back to the top. Bernard played in almost all of their 44 games in the Second Division. Thanks to their efforts, Villa won promotion back to the top league. His last game for Aston Villa was in November 1990. He played 57 league games for the club in total.
After leaving Aston Villa, Bernard had a short loan spell at Blackburn Rovers. He then joined Doncaster Rovers and later Brighton & Hove Albion. His football career ended in 1994 due to an injury.
