Long ago, Berwick was an important stop on a major train line. This was the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad. Trains would pass through, connecting people and places.
In 1916, Berwick was very tiny. Records show it had only four houses at that time. This tells us it was a very small settlement.
A post office was opened in Berwick in 1887. This was a big deal for the people living there. It allowed them to send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years. It finally closed its doors in 1937.
