Beth Simone Noveck, born in 1971, is a professor at Northeastern University. She is also the first Chief AI Strategist for the State of New Jersey. Before this, she was New Jersey's first Chief Innovation Officer. At Northeastern University, she leads the Burnes Center for Social Change. She also directs The Governance Lab, which is a project that helps governments.
Beth Noveck has written several books about how technology can improve government. Her books include Solving Public Problems (2021) and Smart Citizens, Smarter State (2015). Beth Noveck grew up in Toms River, New Jersey. She went to Harvard University and earned two degrees there. She also studied at the University of Innsbruck in Austria, where she earned her Ph.D. Later, she graduated from Yale Law School with a law degree.
Working to Improve Government
Beth Noveck leads The Governance Lab, also known as GovLab. This group works to make people's lives better. They do this by finding new and creative ways for governments to operate.
She has worked at many universities, including New York Law School and MIT Media Lab. She has helped create several important projects. These include Data.gov and Challenge.gov.
